People often ask me how I create my found poetry and found haiku. Having dismally poor eyesight, reading becomes often difficult and tiresome for me. My eyes tend to wax over when I read and I start to see only certain words or phrases on a page of text. I pull out these and form them into poems. I use very old books purchased from a very reputable antiquarian bookseller. They are at least over 100 years old and often in deplorable condition. Chew marks, water damage, mildew, foxing, and mouse droppings as well as scribbles and paint marks left by devious little hands, frequent the interiors of the books I use. I cut the text directly from the book. It may seem foolhardy, but I feel as an artist and a poet, the work maintains integrity when used from the original source rather than making facsimiles.
My poetry has been published, presented and displayed in several public venues. All of my poetry, art, and photography are my own original work and should be considered copyrighted.
